Early Life and Family
On September 21, 1959, David Alan Coulier, formerly Couwlier, was born to David Alan Couwlier and Arlen Couwlier in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, United States. His mother was from Bathurst, New Brunswick, while his grandmother was a Jewish immigrant from Germany. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Michigan in 1997.
David started taking interest in stand-up comedy after his high school PA System, where he impersonated his principal and other staff. David attended his high school with Mark Cendrowski, the director of The Big Bang Theory. Both of them have been good friends since third grade.
Apart from that, David used to play ice hockey during high school. He has played defense alongside the future NHL player John Blum.
David attended The University of Michigan for a short time, But He dropped out after his first year. He was not interested in studying college and wanted to make his career as a full-time comedian.
Career
David began his career in acting after meeting his friend and Full House co-star Bob Saget through the Los Angeles comedy circuit. Bob Saget offered him to live in his house as David struggled in making his career. He lived in their house for a while and used to sleep on the couch.
David was cast as a player for Saturday Night Live in 1986, but he did not get his chance to perform because of the sudden changes in casting. He has done a lot of voice acting for shows that include Scooby and Scrappy-Doo, The Real Ghostbusters, Extreme Ghostbusters, and many more. He was also the host of the comedy series Out of Control on Nickelodeon.
David got his chance to appear on the ABC sitcom Full House. He portrayed the character of Joey Gladstone from 1987 until the cancellation of the show in 1995. In addition to acting, David appeared in George and Leo, Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher, The Surreal Life, and Skating with Celebrities. He also hosted America’s Funniest People in 1990.
David founded his own children’s entertainment company known as F3 Entertainment in 2000.

David is also a private pilot who owns and flies a B35 Bonanza aircraft. He got his pilot’s license in 1979.
Apart from that, he is an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, an American baseball team. He has played softball games with Tom Selleck a few times.
