 In May 2015, Tara Lipinski met Todd Kapostasy during an award show at the Sports Emmys. They dated for two years till 2017, when they decided to marry each other. Some prominent figures like Johnny Weir and Scott Hamilton attended their wedding.

However, there is not any clear information about her children. In September 2020, Tara Lipinski revealed her diagnosis of endometriosis. Later, She had laparoscopic surgery to remove most of her endometrium.

Early Life

On June 10, 1982, Tara Lipinski was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, while she spent most of her childhood in Sewell, New Jersey. Her mother Patricia was a homemaker, and her father Jack Lipinski was an Oil Executive and Lawyer. She graduated from the University of Delaware.

Tara began roller skating at the age of three and became a national champion of her age group at nine. She transferred her skills to the ice rink, later switched to figure skating, and took lessons at the university. 

In 1991, when her father received a job promotion, their family moved to Sugar Land, Texas near Houston, where she took training at the Houston Galleria. A few years later, her father decided to stay in Texas while her mother moved back to Delaware to resume the training. In 1995, Tara and her mother moved to Bloomfield Hills, Michigan to train at the Detroit Skating Club.  

Professional Career

Tara Lipinski started ice skating in Philadelphia in 1988. In 1990, She had her first significant competition at the Eastern Regional Roller Skating Championships, where she ranked second. She earned a silver medal in the novice women’s division at the 1994 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. At the 1994 U.S. Olympic Festival, she became the youngest athlete to win a gold medal. 

Tara came into the mainstream media after her first International Competition at the Blue Swords in Chemnitz, Germany. As a junior skater, she ranked fourth at the 1995 World Junior Figure Skating Championship and second at the 1995 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. 

In late 1995, She ranked fifth at the 1996 World Junior Figure Skating Championships. In 1997, Tara won the World Championship and the Olympic Champion in 1998. She won the 1997 and 1998 Champions Series Finals and the 1997 US National Championship. 

In 1997, Tara was awarded as the Female Athlete of the Year. In 2006, She was recognized in the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame and later earned the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Award for Best Female Athlete.

Due to her extreme level of success, various film producers invested in making movies and tv shows on her life journey. It includes Still Standing, Touched by an Angel, Veronica’s Closet, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, etc. She has also collaborated with a few major brands like Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Chevrolet, Kodak, Office Depot, and various other companies. 

She has also published her autobiography with the title Tara. The title of her second series was Triumph on Ice.

However, Tara Lipinski decided to retire from all Competitive Tournaments in 1998. Now she works as a TV Sports host, Commentator, and Analyst. Tara and Johnny Weir served as the Principal Commentators for the 2014 Sochi Olympics and the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics. Every year the two also act as Culture Correspondents at the Summer Olympics and fashion and lifestyle specialists at the Kentucky Derby.
